Product Information
  • C.S.A Standards: Canadian Standards Association has developed the only nationally recognized standard on children's play surfaces. Premier Custom Playgrounds are designed and tested to to surpass the latest CSA requirements

  • ASTM-1292: Premier Custom Playgrounds complies with all ASTM 1292 standards which specifies impact attenuation performance requirements for playground surfaces and surfacing materials and provides a means of determining impact attenuation performance using a test method that simulates the impact of a child's head with the surface. The test method quantifies impact in terms of g-max and Head Injury Criterion (HIC) scores. G-max is the measure of the maximum acceleration (shock) produced by an impact. The Head Injury Criterion or HIC score is an empirical measure of impact severity based on published research describing the relationship between the magnitude and duration of impact accelerations and the risk of head trauma. Two test methods shall be used to determine the impact attenuation of a playground surface or surfacing materials: critical fall height test, and installed surface performance test. The following apparatus shall be required for implementation of the two test methods: temperature measuring device, impact test system, acceleration measurement system, drop height measurement system, and battery-operated equipment.

  • Vandalism resistant: Premier custom Playgrounds are hand towelled and seamless providing a surface that is much more resistant to tampering or vandalism than a traditional wood chip, sand, or Pea gravel surface.

  • American disabilities act: Premier Custom Playgrounds allow access to mobility challenged people in accordance with the American Disabilities Act (A.D.A) for wheelchair accessibility

  • Seamless: Premier Custom Playgrounds are hand towelled and installed by highly grained experts resulting in a surface with no lips or bumps eliminating all tripping hazards.

  • Porous: Premier Custom Playgrounds provide a porous surface that allows water to drain underneath the surface eliminating standing water and puddles. The porous surface will dry faster than the surrounding concrete and asphalt allowing play to resume quicker than a wood chip, sand, or pea gravel play area.

  • Environmentally friendly: Premier Custom Surfaces use recycled rubber content to reduce the impact on the environment. Comprised of recycled tire content, our playgrounds keep thousands of tonnes of rubber from reaching Canadian landfills.

  • Low maintenance: Premier Custom surfaces come with one of the industries longest and most comprehensive warranties. The surfaces are extremely durable and long lasting and require no mandatory maintenance to maintain the warranty or safety features of the surface. Using a pressure washer one a year is recommended to keep the surface looking clean and new.

  • Slip resistant: Premier Custom surfaces are slip resistant in all conditions and all seasons, providing one of the safest surfaces available. The surface remains slip resistant when dry or wet and adds an important level of safety for clients and business.

  • Warranty: Premier Custom Surfacing offers a industry leading 5 year warranty supported by the largest and longest serving rubber safety surfacing company in North America.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

This system makes extensive use of recycled tire rubber as a major component.

MATERIALS:

  1. Granules - Pure vulcanized EPDM rubber chips ranging in size from 0.5-1.5mm minimum dimension to 1-4mm maximum dimension. EPDM rubber shall be UV stable.
  2. Binder- Resin (Chemical Family: Aromatic or Aliphatic Isocyanate). Binder shall be 100% urethane and contain no TDI. (Aliphatic binders should be considered on indoor applications where there is UV exposure.)
  3. Primer - Resin thinned with solvent.
  4. Matrix- Resin mixed with a thickening agent, used as a base coat to allow application of rubber on vertical surfaces such as stair risers and concrete pool copings

TESTING:

The system should be tested to the following standard

  1. Hardness: ASTM D-2444 94% recovery
  2. Water Absorption: ASTM D-530 +6.5%
  3. Ultraviolet Resistance: ASTM D-3137
  4. Fungal Resistance: no growth
  5. Bacteria Resistance: no growth
  6. Flame Resistance Grade 2
  7. Accelerated: weathering no change after 2000 hours
  8. Freeze /Thaw: no change after 30 days at minus 50 in 24 hour period

FINISHED FLOOR PROPERTIES:

  • Surface to withstand 600-psi tensile stress.
  • Surface to be slip resistant when wet or dry.
  • Surface to be fungus and bacteria resistant.
  • Surface to have chemical resistance (treated surface immersed for 24 hours) so that there is no effect from oil, lye, hydrochloric acid, animal fat, grease, acetone, tolidine, alcohol, blood, chlorine, urine, detergents and insect spray.
